SPASD/ Crossroads Counseling Center In-School Mental Health Therapy Program

Sun Prairie Area School District and Crossroads Counseling Center Sun Prairie are partnering together to provide applicable evidence-based therapeutic approaches geared towards adolescent students such as teaching effective mood regulation techniques, healthy coping skills to deal with distress, and identifying potential barriers i.e: trauma, life-altering events, etc.

Students will engage various processing techniques and skills-based activities that will allow them to develop assertive communication skills, conflict resolution capabilities, and build insight into how automatic thoughts, feelings, and cycle of maladaptive behavioral patterns tend to be detrimental to growth and psychological wellbeing.

The goal is to address negative patterns of behavior and intrusive thoughts by identifying cognitive distortions, educating the student on social emotional skills, and improve identified outcomes will increase probability of success by collaborating with student’s treatment team/point of contact if needed to further aid in the student’s ability to change the maladaptive patterns that are no longer serving them.

We understand that school districts are experiencing several barriers that are out of their control considering these unprecedented times and community resources are being stretched to the max. We aim to provide easily accessible supports and services, a streamlined processes to increase probability of student referrals, and ultimately be seen as a beneficial resource to the Sun Prairie School District faculty and students.
