Kelsey received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin -Whitewater, and her Master of Science in Professional Counseling degree from Concordia University - Wisconsin. She finished her graduate internship with Crossroads Counseling Center in May 2023 and immediately began in her role as a mental health therapist upon graduation. For years and while completing her Master's program, Kelsey worked as an early childhood educator and loved facilitating social and developmental growth in young children. She also has experience as a play-based autism therapist and has worked with 7th and 8th grade students with intellectual disabilities. Kelsey has taken that passion and applied it to her current work with children and adolescents as a therapist.
Kelsey currently works in the morning Adolescent Day Treatment program, providing group psychotherapy for individuals experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as those with a history of trauma, self-esteem and identity issues, school performance and attendance issues, and social and family related concerns. She uses a blend of client-centered approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialetic Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Trauma-Informed care. Kelsey is compassionate and nurturing and believes that all people deserve respect, dignity, and a space to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. She believes the most important component in the healing process is the connection between the therapist and client and takes time to develop that relationship in a genuine way. When Kelsey is not working, she enjoys quality time in nature, hiking, swimming, traveling, reading mystery books, listening to music, and spending as much time as possible with friends and family.
